Our Outposts

Our Outpost strategy...

An outpost is a serving partnership with our community that develops churches where everyday life happens.

Make Disciples - Mobilize Mission - Mulitipy Churches

God is at work

Field 1 - Cultivate

Field 2 - Plant

The first parable Jesus taught was how to expand the Kingdom of God in Matthew 13:3-9

"A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no roots.  Other seeds fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.  Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown, Whoever has ears, let them hear."

Below is a list of people and places where new seeds are being planted:

  • Sterling Heights, MI - Clinton Hyde

  • Wixom, MI - Robert Price

  • Summerfield, FL - Jim Lowery

  • Bristol, IN - Don Snell

  • Salesville, OH - Tiffany Schmidt

"Pray that the Word of the Lord will go out over all the land and prove its power just as it did with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:1

"And the good news about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it." Matthew 24:14

Field 3 - Grow

Field 4 - Harvest

SPOTLIGHT

Tiffany Schmidt

God brings people, churches and mission together in His timing. The Great Commission reads "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.. teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19

Tiffany Schmidt is a wife and mother of three who attends Kennonsburg Church in Ohio.

Kennonsburg Church joined the Missionary Church in December of 2024. Tiffany is a youth director, organizes the kid's ministry and is a worship band leader. It has not been easy for Tiffany to obey the Great Commission, and to go speak God's truth.

Tiffany grew up in a large church family where everything centered around church. For her high school and college years she stepped away from church partying and drinking. "I left the church and took advantage of God's grace." Tiffany married then divorced. It was during her divorce she dove into the Bible stating, "I was so messed up. I was growing closer to God albeit the temptation for sin was stronger. It was a battle." Then in 2004, at age 22, Tiffany recommitted her life to Jesus; "I was all in. My whole life was devoted to God, and I did not want the world's way. I wanted to learn all of Jesus' way."

Tiffany's story began when she started taking Field USA classes for certification.  She learned how to listen, pray, care and share. It was from an assignment to go, engage in conversation, and speak God's Word. How difficult and uncomfortable Tiffany was talking about Jesus to the unchurched. She realized she lived in a bubble focusing on kids, discipling kids in a "building" church. Satan used Tiffany's past to sway her from her assignment. After weeks of praying peace over a local business she felt the calling to go inside the building and called to speak to four people that night. She went in, ordered food and took the next 30 minutes speaking to one woman who was the mother of her son's friend. Tiffany was amazed at what a "hello" can do. This lady was not brought up going to church. Tiffany asked one question; "Tell me about your spiritual journey?" This lady opened up about her past to Tiffany. All it took was listening and asking one open ended question. Tiffany didn't need to have answers. She just needed to care. "I was blown away, spiritually moved, excited and encouraged." Through this one experience in being obedient and using the techniques from her class, Tiffany began asking God to show her how He sees people and to open her eyes to people of peace. "I feel I am ready for God to give me another chance (at that establishment) as I pray for their employees."

Tiffany's testimony happened because Jay, from Kennonsburg Church, came to Crossroads on vacation, had a conversation about Field USA classes and shared this information with his church. It is through obedience that God's harvest field grows and the lost are found.

St. Clair Outpost

This outpost was started with prayer walking during September of 2019 at Claire Wood apartments. Food drives and great blessings from God ensued. The Lord led the workers to multiple other nearby apartment communities. What started as a couple people prayer walking has turned into two teams of people ministering to multiple places within St. Clair. To learn more or get involved with this outpost, contact Dave Schweihofer at (810) 643-3536.

Algonac Outpost

outpost

The outpost started with two women meeting on a monthly basis to pray for the Algonac areas in 2018. A third person joined them in April 2019 as they started prayer walking in different neighborhoods to discern God’s direction in the harvest field. September 2019 brought their first pop-up pantry at two apartment complexes. Now there are eight regular workers and 6 to 8 others join them from time to time. To learn more or get involved with this outpoast contact Marilyn Frantz (810) 643-6540

Lapeer/Beaverton Outpost
cross.png

This outpost started on May 12, 2020 when the church was notified their June 2020 trip to the Dominican Republic to build a house was cancelled. This same group of people got together praying for God to provide another opportunity to serve on a mission. The dam broke in Middleton, Michigan. On May 19th, the same praying group of people went and helped in Beaverton. On the ride home is where they realized there was a lot of work to be done. So for 26 weeks they lived on mission, coming alongside these people. “God had made a clear change on where they were to go.” They cared for these people as they worked sided by side. They shared life together; testimonies and God’s words.  To learn more or get involved with this outpost, contact Justin Grochowski at (616) 466.9301.

Walled Lake Outpost

Established in 2023 - Walled Lake Community Church has been called into being by God and exists for His glory. Our church is composed of forgiven individuals who, through Christ, have become the people of the triune God. The Creator God is our Father, Jesus Christ is our Lord and Head of the Church, and the Holy Spirit is our life and power.  To learn more or get involved with this outpost, contact Robert Price - (248) 870.8558

Richmond Outpost

This outpost was started on a hot summer day in 2020 when Tommy gave cookies to Crossroads volunteers who were ministering to the surrounding community by passing out food. November came and the group of three to six regular volunteers put on a Thanksgiving dinner for the community. Shortly after, they started meeting weekly for Bible study, fellowship, prayer, and discipleship at Tommy's house. Now, they meet every Sunday at the Saben's home for their church service and they are their own incorporated church: the Community Church of Richmond. To learn more or get involved with this outpost, contact Steven Sabens at (907) 978-1134.

Marine City Outpost

marine city.jpg

This outpost was started when one woman was on a mission trip to Guatemala, and through prayer, God revealed to her that she could do mission in her own backyard. She reached out to the local Shangri-La trailer park in Marine City, gathering volunteers to pass out food and form discipling relationships. Soon, they had their own weekly Bible study, and God has gradually developed them into a church that meets every other week for service in the Shangri-La Clubhouse. To learn more or get involved with this outpost, contact Brendan Pittiglio at (810) 278-4948.
